Friday Finday #4: Gendhis Indonesia, Organic Drinks Made with Love

Friday Finday #4: Gendhis Indonesia, Organic Drinks Made with Love
January 2, 2015 CuteCoco

Saturday evening, tables at Kopi Legit in Pejaten Village Mall were all occupied including the long one in a corner reserved for 10 people. I was the first to arrive and soon followed by a dear friend, Tylla Subijantoro. We were there for a meeting with our other friends but before everybody showed up I managed to squeeze some times to talk with her about her newly launched business, Gendhis Indonesia.

“I felt uncomfortable knowing that so many people love everything organic these days and it has becoming a new trend as well in Indonesia but they all look for imported herbs and spices while we stay in a country that is a very rich resource for the ingredients” said Tylla opened up our conversation that evening, talking about why she produces Gendhis.

“I want to re-introduce these lovely ingredients to Indonesian (and to the world); It’s like telling them again that hey we have awesome organic drinks too. Yes sure, these are the lighter version of Jamu but I’d like to call it organic drinks as all ingredients I am using are all organics” she continued as our orders came in.

Over a glass of hot lemon tea, a cup of coffee and a portion of Nasi Liwet, we talked about the products deeper.

This is the label of Tylla’s creation of organic drinks that come in three different flavors:

Turm Me On, with basic flavor of turmeric mixed with Javanese tamarind and ginger.

Betcha Love It, with basic flavor of betel mixed with fingerroot, cardamom and raw sugar.

Rice and Shine, with basic flavor of rice mixed with kaempferia galanga and raw sugar.

To many Indonesians, especially the Javanese, these flavors are too familiar as they use to come in a form of Jamu or herbal drinks. But Gendhis has reformulated the recipe, making it lighter to suit everybody’s palate without affecting the detoxing effect of the drinks.

Turm Me On was derived from Kunyit Asam, a perfect drink for women who are experiencing some tiredness during menstruation period. The basic ingredient of turmeric carries various substances that are beneficial for the body. Other benefit of this drink includes weight lose.

Derived from Jamu Kunci, Betcha Love It gives healing effects to shrink women uterus after labor and to women-related health issues. Rice and Shine was derived from Beras Kencur gives a healing effect to gastric problem, acne, headache, and even is natural ingredient to lose weight.

Drink Gendhis, Follow The Bliss

Within two months of its production, Gendhis has sold more than 5000 bottles and counting. I am not a fan of jamu or herbal drinks but I have tested Gendhis and I surely tell you all that it can easily be my favorite drinks. I guess the lightness, the health benefits and of course the convenience to order play important role in making these beautiful products on the rise.

Due to its perishable nature at the moment Gendhis can only be available around JaBoDeTaBek (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi). Every order will be delivered right to your place at delivery cost of IDR 5,000.-.
