I had been so loud on my social medias about Guinness Arthur’s Day in Medan. The event featured FireHouse, one of my favorite bands when I was in high-school. Steelheart was also familiar to me. Hence all in all, it was a live in concert worth seeing and I couldn’t hide my excitement about it.
I never love musicians based on their physical attraction…except Jordan Knight in 1990s, or Ronan Keating, or Harry Style (Boy Band euphoria ha ha..). But apart from them I always love musicians for their musics. Steelheart and Firehouse may not sound so appealing to the youngs and hips but to most people my age (and older) in Indonesia, they are like rock star legends.
So when I finally got the chance to see them live I even prouder of them then before. Milijenko and CJ Snare, they were like wine. They were older but they didn’t look like aging. I would prefer to use the word ‘mature’ to describe them. They looked fit and healthy, their vocal was still awesome and the entire performance was neat. CJ, in particular, maintained great interactions with the audience. This wasn’t the band’s first performance ever in Indonesia. They had been here before many times, it wasn’t really surprising that CJ spoke Indonesian quite well!
I had missed Gun ‘N Roses concert but saw Axl’s picture from my friend’s photos (she saw them performed in Abu Dhabi) and I could see Axl had put on weight and he looked..old. I had expected Mili and CJ looked that way too. I was wrong! So I guess it was true, that Mili and CJ were among few rock band vocalists that stayed away from smoke, drugs and alcohol.
The only regret I had was that I didn’t get a chance to take photo with Mili and CJ but on the happier side, I did get a chance to take photo with Chris Risola
Thank you Guinness, for bringing them to Medan! The overall concert was great, on time and well-organized. Perfect choice of using JW Marriott Medan ballroom. Look forward to seeing another rock and roll from Guinness Arthur’s Day next year.
