Catching Dreams

In a scale of 1 to 10, 10 is the biggest, I am a dreamer at 11. I was a kid full of imagination and still carry my lovely hobby up to now. You can find me daydreamer in bed before finally fall asleep or when doing my ‘business’ in the toilet. Well why? Dreaming is available for free right? Why most people are so scared to dream of anything at all?

Some people may think you are a fool for raising your hope so high hanging your dream between the clouds in the sky. I say they are the ones who are stupid. A dream has no entrance fee, has no subscription fee, it is not taxable, no boundaries, nothing. So dream. Dream big!

Dreams lead your destiny…

I remember when I was little girl I used to love singing on a chair and pretended it to be a stage. I grew up listening to music from my mom’s evergreen songs to all local genres and would turn the tune out loud whilst singing with the voice pretending I was the one who was singing the song. Never had occurred in my mind that many years from then I would be singing on stage for real with a live band entertaining people.

Dreams make your luck…

One day I was sitting in a public transportation with my mom when a senior high student got in and sat in front of us. I was a junior high student and still have to wait for one more year before entering the senior high. The girl was wearing her school uniform, a normal white and grey like all the other schools’ uniform. At glance nothing was different from her. But I spotted the emblem of her school so nicely drawn on her chest pocket. It was a circle with number that referred to the name of the school. That very moment I told to myself that I was going to join this school.

It was crazy because one year later I was one of the only four from my school who got accepted in that senior high. Coincidence? I don’t think so. Luck? Maybe.

Dreams guide you through life..

Sitting in a classroom as a sophomore I was chatting with my best friend about things we wanted to do after senior high. We were all dreaming to go to college but what kind of college and what major were still blurry. And then she told me about her sister who had attended this prestigious tourism school in West Java and was at the time of conversation she was still single earning millions of Rupiah. I was amazed. I had never heard about this school before but if going to that school could make me earning that kind of money at very young age I would definitely do it. So I told her I wanted to go to that school too.

Months later after taking two rounds of test including English interview I got accepted in Travel Business Management in that tourism school. My best friend didn’t make it but she got herself in to other prestigious university too tho. It was odd because I had never touched the registration form. Her sister did it for us. I had never heard about that major and only learned a bit about it minutes before the interview as a preparation incase they would ask.

Dreams open your opportunity…

Approaching the last semester I was thinking to get a one or two years course majoring in hotel to complete my knowledge and skill as a travel business expert. I had learned a bit in early semesters but I wanted to have more experience in that field. Suddenly there was this five star international hotel chain conducted a selection for two years scholarship to India after which once graduated the people who got accepted would be posted as Junior Managers in various property of the company.

Well, guess who got to stay in India for two years?

So yeah, sometimes we just don’t know what to do about our dreams. How can we make it come true? Well, my experience said that to make your dream a reality first thing you need to do is to wake up and smell the coffee.

Do you want to be a successful businesswoman? What have you done to pursue that dream?

Do you want to own a boutique? Or to be a designer and own a clothing line? What have you done about it?

The real question here is not whether you have the courage to dream, because everybody can dream. The real question here is whether you believe in your dream.

Dream. Believe. And make it happen! ~ Agnes Monica

Dreams are important to have. They are what propel us forward to making things happen. I still need to sort all of my dreams out before I can start working on achieving them.

Agree! Sometimes we have oo many dreams we need to prioritize which one to pursue before the others.
