As it grows into a popular networking site Facebook has made the world even smaller than it seems. Almost every one in this entire world connects through Facebook. I am an avid user of Facebook and along the way I have found that the use of the site has evolved from time to time. It is not only about connecting people and a media to socialize anymore. Here are 6 things Facebook has evolved to these days:
1. A temple to pray
Somehow people chose to better say their prayers in their timeline instead of to actually going to their temple, church or mosque. It got me thinking, maybe God has Facebook page that I don’t know about?
2. A Divorce Court
Oh don’t be surprise. I had seen a psycho husband shouted at his wife’s timeline “I divorce you!”. I think he is just trying to save attorney’s cost.
3. A Puncher Bunny
Have you read this hilarious Japanese comic “Shinozuke Chan”? (my fave ever!). There is this young girl, the friend of Shin-chan, whose mom is always frustrated over Shin-chan’s antiques and every time he gets to her nerve she goes to her bedroom, takes a big bunny doll and starts punching it like psychopath. In Facebook I have seen people went on rampage to criticize government decision over anything. These people went on and on..and on…and I yawned. They thought they were making a different. I thought they were just wasting times. Want to make a change? Take your butt off the chair in front of your computer and start doing something!
4. A Playground
In the old days I used to tease some friends by creating fake conversation with my partner in crime as if we were in a particular restaurant treated by so and so. And then other friends who read that would go to the person’s page and complaint why they didn’t get treated. Once, a friend made a joke over my status that was about me waiting my turn at my Gynecologist. I was in to check my after-birth caesarian stitch but my friend teased that I was checking my pregnancy. Comments started to pour from friends mostly saying “WHAT? You are pregnant AGAIN?!!”
5. A Personal Diary
Facebook asks what you are thinking in the update field. It doesn’t necessarily ask about each and everything in your personal life. But some people tend to go overboard with the concept and start writing down their personal feeling, happenings, secrets and anything they can think of. I personally never think of Facebook status update too seriously. Sometimes I post something so silly that people may hate me for that. But telling the world your home address, personal details, or how you have fight with your husband, or how you have fallen in love with the other man and update all the latest gossip about your neighbor is just not right. I know you have a full right to write whatever you want to in your own Facebook page but some things are meant to kept for yourself.
6. A Predator Feed Pool
I have read news about how a teenage girl gets abducted by a man that she met on Facebook. It’s a dangerous world outside and using Facebook unwisely can bring that danger inside our home. So if you have teenage girls in the house I think you should brief her about the dos and don’ts in Facebook world and keep an eye on her Facebook activity. Just in case.
Do you have any other idea of what Facebook has evolved to these days?
