Saturday Mind: Surprise…Surprise…

Saturday Mind: Surprise…Surprise…
April 15, 2012 CuteCoco

I have been so caught up in my work lately that I have let some days left without new posting here in CuteCoconut. It is kind of frustrating too and I am working my ass off to get the grip and the balance. Time management is key, I know. Easily said than done. However my enthusiasm about blogging is never off and that is why I am so excited to join the Friendship Friday again over at Create with Joy. It has been a while now since my last participation. This time the theme is about Surprise.

If you ask me do I like a surprise my answer is I don’t know. Living with a practical husband has taken away the excitement of surprises. I mean, in our special days like birthdays or anniversaries we just go to a store and tell each other to pick the things we like. Go to the cashier, pay for it and that’s it. There has never been like you close your eyes and open it to a nicely wrapped gift in front of you. Sometimes just to be more practical, I would ask my husband what he wants on his birthday and the same is also done by him. The presents come in shopping bags.

Maybe some of you now will start thinking how miserable my love life is. Well, if you measure a love by surprises then you are 100% right that we don’t have love in our marriage. But of course, for me many things can define love. Not only surprises. Personally I prefer to be given something that I like or I need rather than somethings that will only end up in dark places like the back of my closet. And again, since my husband is very practical I know I will never get a surprise.

Although, to my surprise, my husband did give me a surprise once (now count how many word of surprise I have used in one sentence!). When we were still dating, my husband took me to a store on my birthday and told me to chose anything I wanted. Another time, I specifically told him what I wanted on my birthday (completed with the price tag). So one day when he called me and said that he had something for me I was wondering.

That day my husband waited for me at the parking lot. As soon as I entered the car with excited eyes he handed me something. I was thinking “wow he is giving me a ring! or maybe jewelry..”. It was inside his hand. When the thing was finally handed to my hand I was puzzled.

“A chip card??” I blurted with question, really didn’t know what to do nor to say. This was the first time someone so excitedly giving me a chip card.

“Yes! for your phone” he replied, still with sparkling eyes. I could tell that he was actually about to blow by enthusiasm for having given THAT chip card to me.

“But I already have my number”

“No, this is different”

“What do you mean?”

“The number”

My husband told me the special thing about the chip card. His phone number was 081xxxxx52. He had gone to his friend who worked in his phone service provider company and asked for number that was exactly the same with his with only one number different. So his friend reactivated an old number of 081xxxxx51.

“Now our phone number is a matched!” he said with a big smile. It was weird but sweet.

Occasionally we receive offers from people selling ‘lucky’ numbers. Their offers always go like this:

“Good morning, would you be interested to buy your number’s pair of 081xxxxxx51/2”. For your information this kind of number doesn’t come with low price tag. Of course what they have can’t be the exact match like our number. For example if our number starts with 0816 then their numbers would start with 0812 only the rest would be the same with ours.

Whenever we get those offers, we normally just laugh to each other and one would say “these people don’t know that I already have my match number!”

How about you? Do you like surprises too? Why don’t you post about it and leave me a comment so I can come and read it. Or you can also link up at Create with Joy’s this week’s Friendship Friday.

I think the numbers are cool. We have similar numbers too (but ours play out in a different way). I hope you’ll be able to find the time to join us more often!

    Have a fabulous weekend!

4 surprise babies?!! Now THAT is a surprise!
My second baby was a surprise baby too. I realized I was having him when he was already three months old in my womb!

This post really made me smile today. I don’t think love and romance should always be the big over the top show some people like to put on. From the outside, my husband and I are not overly romantic. Our wedding consisted of “Hey, I’m pregnant and need insurance. I just called the courthouse and they can marry us today. We can do it on your lunch break” And that’s exactly what we did, to the horror of most of our friends and family. We don’t need to show how much we love each other with surprises all the time (btw, i get most of my gifts from a shopping bag too). It’s the ones who do that I question.

WOW! That was a cool way for doing a wedding! 😀
I am glad I am not the only one who receives my gifts from a shopping bag! Give me five! :)
